We in St. Paul's Community College wanted to empower and teach our 1st year students the well-being skills. As a secondary school in the heart of a large community, we felt that it was our responsibility to develop our students life skill, with particular focus on "staying well". We worked with the GAA to run a program called "Go Well", this enable our students to develop a better understanding of themselves. This is achieved by learning, not only learning about yourself but also with our peers. As a result of this it allows us and teaches us to function as a unit. This will also facilitate them to recognise the importance of planning to achieve their targets/goals and how to cultivate characteristics such as confidence, resilience, commitment, and connection.
Well-being is now part of every students timetable this year, and it gives our students a daily opportunity to reflect and give time to themselves. This program is structure to build on health and how to look after yourself and others.
Students in St. Paul's Community College are given the opportunity to flourish in what ever way possible, this is echoed throughout the school by our ethos, "providing an inclusive learning environment for all". We offer our students a wide range of extra curricular, such as shows, Music clubs, art clubs, games and all types of sport. All of which are very important to work and look after ourselves.
