We have run the transition year programme at St. Paul’s Community College for over twenty years and strive to offer a curriculum that is varied and experiential in outlook.
Over the course of the year students get to study an array of subjects and modules, including world affairs, environmental and social studies, and communication skills, along with the more traditional core subjects.
Added to this the students get to sample modules such as Young Social Innovators, G.A.A. future leaders programme, mini-company and Gaisce and take part in our work experience programme all of which make for a memorable TY experience.
We have always included a dedicated “activity afternoon” as part of our transition year and this offers the students the opportunity to partake in a whole range of activities such as surfing and horse riding, trips to adventure centres, guest speakers, karting, drama and art workshops, overnight trips, theatre visits and craft workshops to name but a few.
Our transition year is constantly evolving and growing as we aim to reflect the ever-changing needs and interests of our students.
