The DIY SOS Team, led by Baz Ashmawy and his team, came to Waterford in late November to help a local family in need.
After recovering from Covid, mam of two, Laura, was diagnosed with Stage 3 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, a form of cancer that affects the immune system. Furthermore, her beautiful twin boys (5) have autism and because of this, they have a range of complex sensory and emotional needs.
No task is too big but for Baz and the team, along with all the volunteers they renovated the family home.
St Paul's Community College knew right away what we could do to help. Up stepped Ms. Barron and her helpers Nora O Reilly, Marc Swift and Partick O Reilly and others to make freshly baked homemade treats each day for all the volunteers. The baked goodies were dropped up every morning to perk up all the builders and crew as they worked hard on refurbishing the house.
St Paul's were delighted to get involved and we hope the family will be very happy.
