Hurling U15 & Half

Waterford Colleges Div B Semi-final: St Pauls CC 6-9 St Augustines Dungarvan 6-7 (AET)
Played in heavy underfoot conditions in DLS Cleaboy this was a rip-roaring game from start to finish. St Pauls led throughout most of the game but a spirited Friary outfit kept plugging away and eventually it told as they secured a draw in normal time. With Extra time being played at 5min a half it was frantic stuff. Both teams attacked as they sought to win this dual. With 30seconds left on the clock in the 2nd half of extra time we were two points down. Tagdh Myler broke through the Friary defence and looked certain to score until he was fouled on the 13m line. Up stepped Billy “Biscuits” Nolan with a 20m free that would rival any ever taken. He smashed it to the net and that was it game over. On to the County final v Tramore.

Waterford Colleges Div B County final: St Pauls CC 7-12 Tramore CBS 6-5

Played in Carriganore on the all-weather pitch, this again was a game our lads stayed in front all the way through. Billy Nolan, Brian Cooke, Tagh Myler and Daragh Corcoran all shone bright and led the way with some fantastic hurling. Tramore to their credit never stopped battling and made a real game of it. However in the end our lads were county champions. Disappointing to see that there was no cup to present to the lads or no-one representing the organisers Waterford Post Primary Games or no photographer/local press notified. While we all wish to see gaelic games promoted, this is hardly the way to do it!
Pictured below are the group of students who travelled to Croke Park recently for a tour of the stadium and museums and Mr Murphy, Mr Bailey and Mr O’Grady pictured with the Sam Maguire football cup and the Liam McCarthy hurling cup. Also in the picture are some of our players with the Liam McCarthy and Sam Maguire and the group were lucky enough to also meet Bill Cullen from the TV Series The Apprentice who gave them a thumbs up to their future in the GAA hurling and football games!
