Saint Paul’s Community College (Coláiste Pobail Naomh Pól) is a mid-sized post-primary school (about 504 students) situated in Waterford City in the South East of Ireland. St. Paul’s Community College is a wheelchair-friendly school and school facilities include specially adapted toilets to cater for students in wheelchair. Ramps are provided at all entrance and exit points and the school prides itself in its inclusiveness and accessibility for people with motor disabilities.
The Board of Management of the school comprises five members of the V.E.C., two parent representatives and two staff representative, with the Principal as secretary. The Board works closely with the Principal and Senior Staff Members on the day to day management of the school. The senior management team of St. Paul’s Community College comprises the Principal, Deputy Principal and nine Assistant Principals. Special Duty teachers form the middle management structure of the school. Six of the Assistant Principals, who are year heads, have responsibility for pastoral, administrative and discipline matters. They retain responsibility for their group as they move through from first year.
Each class group is assigned a tutor. Tutors are responsible for monitoring the progress of students in their class group, in a pastoral and caring capacity.
The school offers a wide range of subjects including Science, Humanities, Modern Languages, Business and Technological subjects. It is well resourced with a language laboratory, many specialist rooms, computer laboratories, a well-stocked and professionally run library, a large assembly hall, recreational areas for students and a spacious sports hall. A large, well maintained Greenfield area and an outdoor playing facility are situated near the sports hall.
